"International Symposium on Shockwave Phenomena and Applications" was held online on November 17-18, 2022, and was simultaneously broadcasted in real-time on the Kouxiang platform.

Professor Chen Pengwan, the head of the research group, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Professor Chen Pengwan warmly welcomed the experts, scholars, and students who attended this symposium, emphasizing that the purpose of this conference is to exchange the latest research results in the field of shock waves at home and abroad, promote international communication and collaboration, and express high expectations for advancing scientific and technological development in the field of shock waves in China and the application of shock waves in cutting-edge interdisciplinary fields.

The symposium, held over two days, was divided into four sessions: Impact Processing and Impact Synthesis Materials, Impact Response Behavior of Media/Structures, Applications of Shock Waves in Biomedicine, and Impact Protection Materials and Structures. The conference featured more than 20 experts and scholars from well-known domestic and international universities and research institutes, each delivering conference reports covering various fields.

The conference was jointly organized by the State Key Laboratory of Explosion Science and Technology, the Collaborative Innovation Center for Safety and Protection, and the Engineering Research Center of Explosion Protection and Emergency Response under the Ministry of Education at Beijing Institute of Technology. It attracted thousands of online viewers, including faculty and students, and has been hailed as a successful international conference since the outbreak of the pandemic. It has received high praise from various quarters.
